Where To Start...

I seem to have neglected blogging only because all my predictions came true! Yes it was great seeing my mother again. Yes we did fight. To be perfectly honest the fighting was some of the worst we've ever done. Not that I want to relive the magic, but one particularly nasty day included a shouting/screaming match on the street followed by a two hour screaming match inside the house. Unluckily, my house is attached to a coffee shop. Poor Yokoyama-san. She probably had to crank up the music to protect her customers.
Mum had suggested prior to coming over that we go to China for 2 days, once we got there, go see the Great Wall of China and then go home. I refused because it seemed expensive and tiring. Instead I scheduled only one big away trip, to Hiroshima. Well thats where the trouble started. Just one day in a big city knackered her so much.
The last week was good, we had truced and we did lots of shopping and girls stuff like coffee and massages. Overall I'm really glad she came. I cried like a baby at the airport when she left.

Was glad to hear other suffered similar fates with their parents visiting - they can drive you up the wall. Am thinking of never reproducing in case I become like that!

Have booked tickets to go home August 6th, am really excited but worried about being around my family that long. When we are away from each other there is a lot of love. We will probably hate each other by the time I come back.

However, things I am looking forward to doing in NZ:
- eating Fish N Chips, Mum's Roast Chicken, Vogels bread, lots of cheese, wine, hummus!!!!, Whittakers chocolate, sausages, mince pies.
- getting a good haircut from gay Warren at Vanilla in Wellington, he is a genius
- clothes shopping, shoes shopping!
- coffee in Wellington - Midnight Espresso
- Te Papa
- seeing my friends in Wellington (hopefully at some fantastic Indian curry place - Tulsi?)
- seeing my family
- playing Nanny to my niece Jodi - baking, making playdough, coluring in, going to kindy - bliss!
- seeing my new niece and god-daugher Demi (we are christening her while I'm home)

I just hope I can do it all in 3 weeks.

  • If anyone can do it, you can. I am sure it won't be a problem. See you in New Zealand.
