In New Zealand

Yep, folks, I have arrived back in Aotearoa and this is where I'll stay until August 13th. Everything has gone really smoothly, have not been arrested for trying to smuggle in cooking sake (does that qualify as a food?) or lost my passport. I have, however, displayed an alarming inability to re-adjust into my own culture.

1) Keep saying "sumimasen" to random strangers
2) Bought a phone card to call home, had to have the lady come and show me how to use it. All the buttons were in English!
3) Stood to attention when someone yelled "minna san..."

And I'm only at the airport. Can only get worse from here.

Next stop Wellington.

Goodbye Leavers

Just after we raised our glasses last night and tucked in to our last dinner together as a ken, I sniffed away a few tears and put my mind to the task of having as much fun as possible with the people around me. My wicked hangover has faded and I can safely say I achieved my goal and more. Thank you everyone who travelled from far and wide, I have some great last memories. Here is the video evidence!

The Train Ride of Shame

Going between venues, the consequences of chugging a little too much beer started to show. Rendered completely unable to complete simple tasks such as inserting a ticket into the gate, I was forced to rely on the hand signals of my friendly AJET representative...
