A Tough One

So, it's Thursday night, I'm sitting here listening to Dan have a shower and I can't be bothered to get off my ass and actually pack. Tonight is our last night in Hagi and I'm a bit emotional.

We just had our last visit from Young-rong. She is the younger sister of Cho-rong. Cho-rong was introduced to me by Gerard, she is a student at the local International University. I was instantly drawn to her because she is trilingual - Korean, very good Japanese and enough English to build a friendship on. And of course because she doesn't cut her hair in the layers that Japanese girls do. She wears it long and straight and its so pretty and a rare sight. She really loves meeting people from all over the globe.

So Cho-rong and I discovered that we lived 2 minutes apart and we have become a distinct feature in each other's life. We cook together, we laugh together, we talk about how crazy Dan is, we sit around drinking chu-hi reminiscing about the partying we used to do when we didn't live somewhere so inaka.

Her younger sister Young-rong came out to visit for about 3 months. She is totally opposite to Cho-rong. She loves baseball, wears T-shirts and shorts and is a tomboy. She attempts what some men have never done - to beat Dan up. She loves chocolate cheesecakes which I make for her occasionally.

So tonight is the last time we'll see her as she is leaving with Cho-rong for Korea in late August. Cho-rong is coming back to Hagi but Young-rong will be staying in Seoul to study at university. She just cried so much and I was surprised how much of a friendship we had managed to create in her short time here. We say we are not friends, but a member of our Hagi family. It is so important to have good people around you, they make all the difference to your experience. I just can't imagine Hagi without Cho-rong down the road.

So 'Cheers' to good mates, I have promised I will go back to Seoul to meet Young-rong and her family, and I told her she has to come to NZ. I will do everything I can to make sure she gets there.

I am officially signing out, next time I blog I will be at home in NZ with my favourite people on earth - the babies.

I'M GOING HOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, thats right folks, I am signed, sealed and ready to be delivered to my family this Sunday. It's been a crazy week, with the newbies arriving (who are so far, fantastic) the Hagi Natsu Matsuri (Summer Festival) and all the general chaos of preparing for almost a month in NZ. I am pleased to say our hotel, international and domestic flights are all booked and organised.

Hugs from the babies, fish n chips, deli food, normal English, newspapers, coffee - here I come.
